Glamorgan win by two wickets with two balls to spare.

Lukas Carey is having a very good week. About time he was back in the side.

Phew. Nice to get a win and an entertaining game all in all. Good debut for that Bethal lad for them.

Thought they had messed up, it’s easy to get in that mindset. A good game.

Cracking up and down chase, very exciting . Great character shown by Carey and walker.
Watching the 100 bollocks on TV now. Love the fact that they are trying to bring more people to the game and are putting games on terrestrial tv. All this could have been done with the t20 format though. I think the ecb just didn't want to admit they'd learned lessons from the aussie big bash. By putting this demented 100 ball concept together they can pretend its all their original ideas.

As for the 'banter' between chunkz and that chris Hughes tosser. Does that really attract anyone to the game ?

Yep it’s a nonsense when we already have T20

    Re: GLAMMY

My personal opinion is that this new format is simply not needed.
T20 is popular, hasn’t cost a fortune to set up and doesn’t negatively impact on the other formats.
However, the 100 is unlikely to be pulled and I would imagine the idea is that it will gradually replace the T20 and probably finish off the 50 over game.
As a traditionalist, when it comes to sport ,I really don’t enjoy seeing the games I loved growing up being subject to such big changes . I guess it is a case of tv/ sponsors being the driving force so I dread what future innovations are likely across all forms of sport.
    Oh, good win for Glammy.

It almost seems a bit insulting to the target viewers aswell. As if the ecb are saying to them ' we think you're too thick and lack the attention span for 120 balls, so we've added some silly nicknames and made it 100 balls to appeal to thickos like you.

Well it gives us another team to be disappointed with.

Not for me. No interest in Welsh Fire. Only David Lloyd from Glammy in their squad.

    Re: GLAMMY

this hundred seems very plastic and 'fast food' cricket and not for me. t20 was acceptable so why the need for this glitz? tennis balls and plastic bats next ffs!

    Re: GLAMMY

I wonder if these participants will become specialist Hundred players and ultimately gett capped by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

There is already a set of specialist limited overs cricketers and a set of test batsmen with different captains though there is some cross over.

Call me an old cynic but it just seems to me like another money making exercise which will see the public get charged top dollar for watching "international cricketers"... hundreds of them.

Not fussed on T20, not interested in the Hundred and definitely will not be interested in the Eighty in future.

    Re: GLAMMY

The hundred is the way they found to get franchised cricket and get bigger names playing in this country.
The blast is the only t20 competition in the world that is played by sides that play domestic cricket sides.
The Ecb think they missed a trick when they saw how big the IPL and Big Bash have become and now want the same.
Watched a bit last night and not that impressed with this new format.
Can't see how it will attract people who don't already like cricket which they claim they are trying to do.

I quite enjoyed it and will watch again.

Haven't seen Glamorgan since Viv Richards played and have no interest in watching England.

I’d like to see a match where there are mixed teams minimum of 5 men 5 women - think that would be quite good

    Agree.
I cannot see this generating anywhere near as much interest as the IPL.

The Asians are fanatical about cricket.
    We are fanatical about football.

Interesting signing of James Harris. Pace bowling is a real strength area for us, and from what I've seen James Harris is on current form a level below what he have.
He is well suited to the slow nibbly surfaces at sophia Gardens though, so hopefully he will be an asset

    Re: GLAMMY

Glamorgan 295-6 at the end of their fifty overs at Northants - 86 for Rutherford and an unbeaten 58 for Cullen, good knocks by Taylor and Joe Cooke as well.

  19. #19

    Re: GLAMMY

Northants 121-5 and needing to score at near seven an over from now on.

    Re: GLAMMY

Glamorgan doing well at the 50 over format so far!

    Re: GLAMMY

Northants now 6 wickets down. Never count your chickens with Glamorgan, but looking like 2 wins out of 2 in this competition

    Re: GLAMMY

    Northants 236 all out.

    Re: GLAMMY

That’s an excellent win. Joe Cooke had a.very good all round game.

Welsh Fire won last night in a tremendous game. Glammy won today in a longer game. Enjoyed both - why not??

Going along tomorrow and thoroughly looking forward to it - though typically there're showers forecast. Bought tickets last year for tomorrow and 6th August. Sold out (though only 2000 allowed tomorrow I think). After what we've been through over the last year I'm a glass half full guy from now on. Life's for living.
