Hard to believe Glamorgan beat Gloucestershire in the first game of the season isn't it. Even more incredibly, they scored 526-9 in their first innings in that match - has a side ever scored more than half of their runs for a season in one innings before?

In this season's terms and with this batting side, making Gloucester bat again and taking the game into a fourth day has to be seen as almost a triumph.

    Only lost by 9 wickets!

Seeing as the last loss was by an innings, expect the hierarchy to make a statement of making progress

They've got to be ruining the confidence of these young players. Carlson who was in fine form in the T20 got a pair in this game. The bizarre signing of Cook for the last few games hasn't worked out very well either!

Apologies to continually repeat myself but the honorable thing to do would be to appeal the ECB for relegation to the minot counties league on the basis that we are completely out of our depth and have zero ambition.
Allow a minor counties team to try their luck.
Without doubt, they could not be worse

Finally an admission of failure. Alongside Shaun Marsh we need three new specialist batsmen next season. We need two new openers for starters. Then maybe we can bring in someone like Carlson lower down the order to take the pressure off.

    Re: GLAMMY

Another absolutely pathetic performance by Glamorgan against Kent - 250 behind on first innings, they're 33-4 and, weather permitting, will almost certainly lose before lunch tomorrow.

I read somewhere that Hugh Morris and Robert Croft have a meeting with members on the 24th - I hope someone asks Croft to name one young player who he honestly believes his coaching has improved this season.

This has been easily the worst season I can remember for Glamorgan. On all fronts we have been pathetic.

Usually there is something to cling to - but not this season.

    I think I've found a bright side.

Durham were bowled out for their lowest ever scored 61 in their first innings today.
They improved in their second innings and we're all out for 66!

Glamorgan were beaten by an innings by Durham last month - if they had to bat at Leicester in yesterday's conditions, I wouldn't have bet on them getting a hundred in the game, let alone in an innings.

42-6 this morning. I bet they can't wait for the season ( if you can call it that to end).

Now that is shocking. I can see Croft using this as a smoke screen.

45-7. I might have spoken too soon.

    Refreshingly honest comments from Hogan:

"Hopefully in a few years these guys will be seasoned players, to be frank, some of them won't be, but we'll know which is which".

Honestly can't remember what Marsh even looks like. When was he last at the club?

He was injured in our first home T20 game which would have been early July.

I think he went back to Australia for treatment then but no idea if he came back since. This is the issue with centrally contracted overseas players, with Warner and Smith out Marsh is important for the winter and the reality is he was going to be wrapped in cotton wool. In which case what are we paying for? Were we paying him all Summer?

He will pop up in the winter fit and healthy and do a job for Australia.

I would hope the club had insurance in place to cover the loss of Marsh. It did look like he had a nasty collision at the time.

Morris needs to go to. The club are an embarrassment. A massive overhaul is required

    I blame this thread!

Somebody please start another one for next season.

Feels like it to me. Morris was head of coaching at the ECB surely he knows enough people in the game to find an adequate replacement for Croft. Maynard appears to have made these kids even worse at batting but who knows how involved he has been.
