Thread: Winningest

    Winningest

Whilst watching a documentary about American football the other day I heard the commentator use the word "winningest", as in "he's the most winningest coach in Buckeye history".

I thought I'd gone mad but I googled the word and Americans do actually use it.

Also found this funny article about the difference between British and U.S. commentators' language:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22713988

"I remember a US commentator describing a whipping cross into the box that was clattered into the back of the net as: "He transfeeeeerrrs aaand compleeeeetes!!!!"

I watch the nfl and winningest is by far the most annoying term they use.

What is worse is an english guy (can't remember his name. He is famous) said it during the Formula in germany on the weekend.

Cool! Ye, 'work colleague' is an epic fail.

    I blame the Beatles.

'Winningest' is awful though. Borderline imbecilic!

When I used to go down and watch the local parks football on a Saturday there used to be a guy who'd stand on the sideline every weekend and shout "EBENEZER!" whenever he saw something he thought was "good".

We have an online training system in work that claims to be "Eduneering".
That nobody has put their fist through a computer screen yet is a great testimony to the tolerance of employees here.

Love it, it's great when you sit/ stand near someone each week and hear them go through their full repertoire. It usually means you've watched a decent game.
