Squad changes in next 2-3 weeks

I'd be pretty pleased overall if it was Fabio, £2.5m Gunner, £2m, KD free, Le Fondre free, Macheda free out and Huws, Vela and Vydra( loan)/ Bamford ( loan) coming in.

Cut wage bill , the fees will cover the new signings and we can strengthen where we need to.

Would like Mutch in as well, but we'd have to shift Adeyemi at least to do that.

If Manga also goes for a big fee we will need to replace him, but might also be able to bring another quality player in.

Like all that, but not sure about the clamor for Mutch. Don't get me wrong a terriic player at our level. But way too injury prone and a risk we simply can't afford.

I like your outgoing players but I think I would go for James Maddison, Ryan Fraser and maybe someone like Lys Mousset.

There are some excellent players in ligue 2 in France like Brahim Konate, Naim Sliti who wouldn't cost a great deal.

I'm gutted we didn't take the punt on Kodjia when we had the chance.

Teams like Sochaux and Valenciennes produce some great youngsters and I wish we would exploit this market a bit more.

I'd like to have seen us sign the Chelsea lad John Swift.
Loaned to Brentford last year and now with Reading this year.
    Good attacking midfielder.

Given the way the club has been run over the last couple of years I can't see us paying out big money on loan fees so that would rule out the likes of Bamford and Vydra. Come to think of it, when was the last time we actually paid a fee for a transfer?

We bought Lex and Zahore but the fees are undisclosed

I don't think either of them would have cost very much. Couple of hundred grand each?

I can't see Le Fondra going anywhere, he's just happy playing his playstation and checking his banking app.

Any other profession, if you were that bad at your job you'd be fired.

Didn't the wurzels offer him a better deal than us?

Young, technically good number tens like Swift and Maddison are likely to be good signings, but they are still unproven really, whereas we've bought someone whose record shows something like a one in three scoring rate over a long career. Lex Immers is a different type of player, but he's effective and is certainly a cleverer and more technical performer than I was expecting when I first read what Feyenoord fans were saying about him.

Players like Swift and Maddison are potentially going to have a greater resale value than Immers, but I'm not sure we need another number ten type when we also have Pilkington and Noone (who I think could be quite effective in that role). I'd prefer us to spend what money we have on another full back/wing back if Fabio goes, a bit of an all rounder in central midfield (especially if Gunnarsson goes) and a smaller, more nippy, specialist striker.

They were willing to meet the asking fee Bob.

It seemed like a lot of money at the time but when you think of the prices being asked for a half decent striker now, just over 3 million was peanuts

Right, I see the wurzels are saying that any Premier League side wanting him will have to pay £10 million.

Much as I like Bamford as a player , the CCFC board have said they won`t go down that route as they consider him to have totally the wrong attitude (sees himself as far too good to make a move to the Championship).

I think we might keep Adeyemi as central midfield cover and let Gunnar go for a good price to join Fabio in generating a good transfer fee and freeing up a big chunk of wages costs.

Vydra would be good , and probably affordable. Would also like to see us get Vela from Bolton as he seems to be a good fit for the right wing back position as we have no obvious cover there when Fabio goes (Tutonda can cover the left wing back slot well).

A bit controversial maybe , but I could see us being able to cope with a sale of Manga if it generates a big fee enough to sign a good striker , where I think we are weak. He didn`t play every game last season and we have Peltier, Morrison and Connelly as a first choice back three with Ajeyi as cover

Wouldn't Bamford be a non starter anyway Keith because, although he didn't establish himself at Palace or Norwich last season, a move to the Championship now would have to be viewed as a backward step. Anyway, I'm guessing we'd have to pay a fair bit more than the couple of million Reading paid Watford last year to get Vydra if it did emerge that Bamford would be loaned to a Championship team. As for Vydra, I wouldn't have thought that many Reading fans would consider it money well spent on him now, given his lack of impact with them last season.

Apparently, we were in for James Wilson in January when he chose to go to Brighton, so maybe he'd be within our spending range, but, realistically, I'd think we'd be looking at a youngster at a Premier League who us supporters have probably not heard of yet - I see Tammy Abraham (a Chelsea striker I'd not heard of before) scored his second goal in two games for the Wurzels last night.

if we get rid of fabio and gunnarsson, Vela would be a good purchase as he can cover both positions.

For a striker i'd like us to go back to Bolton and get Zach Clough, he's always impressed me as a noble tricky striker and a fee of around 1-2 should get him.

When we beat Reading 2-0 last November, I paid particular attention to Vydra. He was virtually non-existent and got subbed late on. Very over-rated and offered little or no threat

If any of us were football club managers would we sign Dikgacoi, Le Fondre or Macheda? I wouldn't.

Did well in Watford's system though. I was quite surprised when Reading got him last season. Never worked out well I know, but the guy had a good track record and was worth the punt. I would like to give him a go at the city.

Very strong press suggestions this afternoon that Wigan have bid £3m for Bamford

Interesting posts. Clough would be a good signing, but I don't think he's the out and out no 9 we need. Would be great as a no 10, but we already have Pilks, Immers and ( I agree with Bob on this) No one.
Similar with Swift, who looked s class act when I saw him v Bolton for Brentford
If Vydra and Bamford are non starters we'll have to look elsewhere , it's a big decision and the club need to get this one right.

A football stats guy who has worked for a few clubs at this level and who's blog I read had tammy Abraham pegged as the best loan likely to be available to championship clubs.

I wouldn't mind us taking a punt on Gunter now Fabio has gone.
He could play full back or centre back in this system.
