Thread: Slade watch

    Re: Slade watch

Another game, another blank for Grimsby.

This time in the FA Cup away to Plymouth where they lost 1-0.

Big Russ will have to wait at least another year and a bit if heís to have another acknowledging nod of approval from a man of Arsene Wengers calibre.

He’s got confused with the concept of having a clean sheet

4 in the last 5. They did beat Cheltenham away in between a load of goalless draws and thus cup defeat.

    But wait!...what's this? LINKY

Now all that business is done.

I'm whole-heartily enjoying the demise of Slade. The amount of entertainment he has been providing me since he left almost makes up for the 2 years of misery I endured with him at the club

    Re: Slade watch

If anyone's interested, he got sacked as Grimsby manager the other day on my Football Manager save. Slade managing a team with 'Grim' in their name just fitted so well.

Admit it, that news brought a slow smile across your face :P

Another week, another blank fired from Russellís boys.

This time in a 2 nil loss away to Exeter.

Long trip home for the Mariners with very little to be positive about yet again.

I had them in my both teams to score as they usually score in their away defeats

He’s single-handedly used up every P45 in the country I think.

    Sounds all too familiar

Season ticket holders not even bothering attending games whilst heís still in charge. Says it all.

In spite of him, not because of him,
and we never really threatened getting into the play offs.

What was there to like about him? His press conferences and after match analysis were like listening to Mike Bassett.

Thanks to David Marshall and the wind blowing in the right direction for our set pieces. On top of which, the squad he inherited should've been good enough to reach the top 6 regardless.

I don't know, Grimsby "stayed in the game" for twenty eight minutes - it won't be long before they're picking those 0-0 draws again.

That’s something for their fans to look forward to, reminds me of when he was here boring us all to death

    Re: Slade watch

    Last five games.

    Played 5
    Won 0
    Drawn 2
    Lost 3
    For 1
    Against 4

I’m sure Grimsby fans must be happy with that - Russ truly is the Pep Guardiola of the lower leagues.

    Re: Slade watch

Another Slade clean sheet, they lost 1-0 at home to Carlisle

I wonder up how much he's on. Whatever it is, is too much obviously.

He's never been the same after doing a decent job with us, hounded by some of our fans.

Poor guy's confidence is clearly shot.

He didnít do a good job for us. He did a good job for Tan. That is a big fvcking difference.

He actually did what he was told...wouldnít you if you got promoted to your level of incompetence?

Slade was out of his league as soon as he selfishly took the Cardiff job. So do I feel sorry for him? Absolutely not.

    Re: Slade watch

Most of Slade's job have been firefighting. In those kind of roles, the aim is to stabilise - anything else is gravy.

Greatest manager in the world, no. Worst we've ever had as some would like to make out? Ridiculous...
