In spite of him, not because of him,
and we never really threatened getting into the play offs.

What was there to like about him? His press conferences and after match analysis were like listening to Mike Bassett.

Thanks to David Marshall and the wind blowing in the right direction for our set pieces. On top of which, the squad he inherited should've been good enough to reach the top 6 regardless.

I don't know, Grimsby "stayed in the game" for twenty eight minutes - it won't be long before they're picking those 0-0 draws again.

That’s something for their fans to look forward to, reminds me of when he was here boring us all to death

    Last five games.

    Played 5
    Won 0
    Drawn 2
    Lost 3
    For 1
    Against 4

I’m sure Grimsby fans must be happy with that - Russ truly is the Pep Guardiola of the lower leagues.

Another Slade clean sheet, they lost 1-0 at home to Carlisle

I wonder up how much he's on. Whatever it is, is too much obviously.

He's never been the same after doing a decent job with us, hounded by some of our fans.

Poor guy's confidence is clearly shot.

He didn’t do a good job for us. He did a good job for Tan. That is a big fvcking difference.

He actually did what he was told...wouldn’t you if you got promoted to your level of incompetence?

Slade was out of his league as soon as he selfishly took the Cardiff job. So do I feel sorry for him? Absolutely not.

    Re: Slade watch

Most of Slade's job have been firefighting. In those kind of roles, the aim is to stabilise - anything else is gravy.

Greatest manager in the world, no. Worst we've ever had as some would like to make out? Ridiculous...

Grimsby won 1-0 yesterday to leave them 2 points from the play off places

It was the third time in a row that their opponents ended the game with 10 men

Thought they drew 0-0? Again. He does love a 0-0 Slade.

You are correct I got the scores mixed up on the BBC footy site...1-0 was their previous result

This made me laugh from the Grimsby board

"we are more likely to knock a seagull out of the air than score at the minute"

Undoubtably a case of "two teams trying to win a football match".

You have to feel sorry for Russ. It's almost like every game his teams play, the other team is trying to win. He can't get a break.

    Re: Slade watch

Poor Russ has had a Xmas almost as bad as ours.

1 point and 1 goal from 4 games.

Alarm bells should be ringing for Mariners fans as Slade calls for back the basics.

Protest planner at the next home game because fans were not consulted about the name change to Grimsby Nil.

Oh God, No! We've had much worst than Slade. Ole 'The Useless One' was a far, far worse manager than Slade. Especially when you consider the tat he signed on excellent wages.

Another blank, another defeat for Slades charges, this time a 0-2 reverse at home to lowly Morecambe.

Grimsby fans have had enough. This chap offered Russell a way out yesterday:
