    Re: Slade watch

0-0 at home to the mighty Cambridge.

3rd goalless draw at home on the trot for the Mariners.

Apologies for the latest update on Slade Watch but I couldn’t get hold of anyone in Grimsby to find out the score as they had all gone to sleep.

So you disappear when Slade gets a fine win then come scuttling back when it suits?

Does the J in your name stand for Jursset?

A mere 4 points off the playoffs, all to play for.

    Re: Slade watch

I have to say, reading up on all the disdain for Slade makes me chuckle. Can't fault him for being a nice guy, but can fault him for so many other things.

Living abroad, I haven't been able to watch City nearly as much as I used to, but the last time I was back in the UK I went to a couple of home games. It was a 2-2 draw against Sheff Wed and I just remember being so dismayed by how second best we were and how there was no soul or passion in the team. That, and we scored from 2 set pieces without looking like scoring in any other way.

Also, his stubborn refusal to even consider playing youth team players (even when there was nothing to play for) really irritated me.

Even a bloke that lives 6004 miles away can see how shit Slade was.

Believe me mate that game was one of the highlights of Slade's tenure and was one of the few games I came away feeling I'd been entertained!

Another game, another blank for Grimsby.

This time in the FA Cup away to Plymouth where they lost 1-0.

Big Russ will have to wait at least another year and a bit if he’s to have another acknowledging nod of approval from a man of Arsene Wengers calibre.

4 games without a goal now isn’t it?

He’s got confused with the concept of having a clean sheet

4 in the last 5. They did beat Cheltenham away in between a load of goalless draws and thus cup defeat.

    But wait!...what's this? LINKY

Now all that business is done.

I'm whole-heartily enjoying the demise of Slade. The amount of entertainment he has been providing me since he left almost makes up for the 2 years of misery I endured with him at the club

    Re: Slade watch

If anyone's interested, he got sacked as Grimsby manager the other day on my Football Manager save. Slade managing a team with 'Grim' in their name just fitted so well.

Another week, another blank fired from Russell’s boys.

This time in a 2 nil loss away to Exeter.

Long trip home for the Mariners with very little to be positive about yet again.

I had them in my both teams to score as they usually score in their away defeats

I don't know, Grimsby "stayed in the game" for twenty eight minutes - it won't be long before they're picking those 0-0 draws again.

That’s something for their fans to look forward to, reminds me of when he was here boring us all to death

    Last five games.

    Played 5
    Won 0
    Drawn 2
    Lost 3
    For 1
    Against 4

I’m sure Grimsby fans must be happy with that - Russ truly is the Pep Guardiola of the lower leagues.

Sounds like the Grimsby fans have had enough of watching Slade too:

    Sounds all too familiar

Season ticket holders not even bothering attending games whilst he’s still in charge. Says it all.
