    They're shite as well.

Try opening them after a winter of being closed, plenty of grease & WD 40 needed.

Yes, but they take up the room inside then, so it is awkward for chairs/tele/tables in the room.

Pack them up level. Sill 30mm (1 inch), frame is 70mm(so there's another 2inches at least), so a piece of 2x3 inch timber, covered with uPVC arcichave and Bobs your uncle you got opening out doors.

Which is what I described above, but not everyone thinks like you.

They are told "maintenance free", so they don't touch 'um. Come Spring they are practically welded shut with shite.

I've never been asked by insurance companies if I've got them.

They ask what doors you have at the front and back, and what type it is.

Have you changed provider in the last 5 years?

I can't remember them asking, I've only got ordinary doors front and back anyway.

Is it much of a difference if you have?

No idea. I have the BS doors. If you have a wooden door, its not as secure as PVC door with the several locks, and if it complies with the BS (British Standard) then its considered even more secure. Not sure how much it changes the price though, never played around with quotes for home insurance to find out.

Probably need a vault to keep you safe in LLanedeyrn though.

My mother had New Wave doors put in, they were a cheaper alternative than Bi Fold, with similar effect.

Although the groves do need to be kept clean, so at least once a year you might need to spend 30 seconds clearing them. The bastards described them as maintenance free as well.

French doors are ridiculous as the frames reduce the amount of glass. Bi fold doors are better but expensive. I would stick with sliding doors.

Screwfix have some that seem reasonably priced. Currently looking for Patio doors, avoiding the sliding doors. Nice touch, but not as practical as double doors.

Can depend how much space you have, if its under 6ft then french doors make more sense. More space and bi-fold could work, though those New wave doors do look good.
