Jeremy Helan of Sheffield Wednesday to quit the game for religion.

There's no way I'd class myself as a religious man, but I admire him for taking that decision.

I can remember Peter Knowles, younger brother of "Nice One" Cyril, doing something similar, a couple of years after he had single-handedly demolished City in a 3 - 0 win for Wolves at Ninian Park.

The two incidents are not related, but it was a privilege to see him play. He had a bright future, but chucked it in at 24 or 25.

Think he was a top prospect on football manager a few years ago. I'm sure I signed him and I didn't get any of this nonsense.

Fair play to him though for quitting a lucrative job for one which will hopefully give him more satisfaction it's a brave decision, how many people end up in jobs they hate because they pay well.

I don't hold any particular reverence for those who work in religion though. Whichever the brand of fairy stories this guy is associated with it is all essentially a waste of time, having said that it probably isn't any more so than kicking a ball into a net.

To be fair, Cardiff City could do with a little help from God at this point in time!

No thanks. It didn't work out last time. He used this Club and was out on the piss every night.

I can't admire anyone who'd give up their career because of a few fairy stories.

I think I quit football for religion too as I find myself watching Cardiff City and constantly blaspheming.

I think some of our players have quit football, but haven't announced it yet.
