The Lib Dems have massively shot themselves in the foot post coalition. They allowed the media and popular opinion to criticise them and Clegg for entering the coalition, when they should have shown more back bone and stuck up for their position. They allowed popular opinion to form that the drop off in following was due to getting in bed with the Tories. It was due mostly to the fact that the 2010 election proved conclusively that we have an undemocratic two party voting system/tradition and that any vote for the Lib Dems is indeed a wasted vote.

Fallon is a major culprit on this issue and has made political capital from it. In my view they should have stuck with Clegg and all rallied behind him and their choices from the previous parliament. The party just appears fickle to a whole generation now.

I'll probably vote for the Lib Dems, it will be a vote for the future of the party more than anything else.
I wasn't aware of Fallon's past, just felt he gave it a go today ,yes usual rhetoric in its content ,but felt it was a direct speech, and brave to mention the B word..

I also felt Clegg was a good politician and a decent man , but broken by a ruthless Tory machine, took some balls to do what he did , I wonder where we would be if it had been a lib lab pact
