    O/T Patio grout

My patio has seen better days a lot of the grouting has come away. Has anyone used the type that you brush into the gaps, is it any good and have you got to do anything else to it?

    Can you recommend a brand?

    Thanks in advance

Will last a couple of years, but dont even try using a jetwash as it will come away. Okay alternative to doing it properly. But it tends not to set properly all the way through, so its not solid.

Would recommend getting some proper mix and doing it, although its a shit job to do. Just finished doing mine last week, took 6 weeks to get it done in small sections. Used a 4 to 1 mix.

Pre mixed concrete should be okay. But used cement mix £5 and some sand £2.70 from jewsons.

Either way hurry up and do it, cement wont set under 7c, and once temps dropped you wont be able to do it.

a slightly easier way than pointing the slabs ( as Barry dragon has done ) and a better way that a dry mix brushed in then a watercan is to use a gun

you mix up the mortar and put it in the gun wet ( which solves the issue of the " brushing the dry mix " )

    its definitely quicker than pointing

    guns are around 15 quid

I've not used it myself, but they've got bags of the stuff outside Homebase for £9 a bag

Pay a few quid more and get the P C Cox Ultrapoint gun, much better quality. Cox make the best cartridge guns.

Just had my patio done (job finished yesterday. Used a natural slate. so used Tile and Floor grout (wide joint) for pointing, Should last forever. Worked out a more expensive option. But didn't fancy sand and cement option.
