Trollope to be given 'a fair' amount time

    http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/f...lope-11923835?

Under-fire Cardiff City manager Paul Trollope has been told he will get what is being dubbed 'a fair' amount of time to get the Bluebirds back to winning ways.

We understand Trollope and his coaching staff have met the Cardiff hierarchy twice in the last few days to discuss the crisis that has seen his Bluebirds plummet to rock-bottom of the Championship table.

And the message from the Bluebirds Board has been one of 'Don't Panic', Cardiff bosses firmly believing Trollope can turn results around.

However, owner Vincent Tan does want to see evidence of an instant upturn in performances, starting with Saturday's trip to fellow strugglers Rotherham.

That is one of three crunch games for Trollope ahead of the looming international break, with his Bluebirds also facing two other sides who are in the bottom seven - Derby at home and then Burton away.

Continued failure in those fixtures could force Tan into a rethink. The Burton match comes just before an international break, the time club bosses traditionally use to change their manager.

Cardiff remain optimistic, though, that Trollope can confound his critics, despite many fans clamouring for his head just eight games into the new season.

Those supporters have taken to social media and the radio airwaves to claim Trollope is out of his depth as Cardiff manager. Whatever the merits of that argument, there is a general view that under Trollope's guidance, these Bluebirds players are punching way below their weight.

We are led to believe Cardiff's hierarchy have met Trollope in person to discuss the situation and have emphasised they have no intention of pulling the trigger just yet. On the contrary, the message was one of reassurance - or as close to that as you can get in the modern cut-throat world of football management.

Trollope was told he would be handed what is being dubbed 'a fair' amount of time to get the team flying back up the Championship table as he seeks to implement a new Cardiff Way of playing.

That is built on a similar system Trollope as coach helped adopt with Wales at Euro 2016. Ironically, he ditched the 3-5-2 formation for the weekend match with Leeds, yet still saw his team fall to a 0-2 defeat.

Trollope was spoken to in the dressing room in the immediate aftermath of that loss when the 'Don't Panic' message was given. It was more a case of arm around the shoulder than a reading of the riot act.

The Cardiff hierarchy believe Trollope's team were the better side, right up to the minute when Matt Connolly clumsily gave away the penalty that turned the game Leeds' way.

After that, Bluebirds heads went down and everything went wrong. Trollope has been told he must address that glaring fault, which stems from a lack of confidence and belief amongst some players, for when his side fall behind during other matches this season.

It is understood Trollope and his coaching staff met the Cardiff top brass again on Wednesday afternoon. Once again the message was to say they will be given time to make results better.

We have been told that while Tan is unhappy how the team has fared over the course of eight matches, there is a feeling the players still have full respect for Trollope and the methods he is trying to bring in and that changes will take time.

The general view is that there is a togetherness in the squad that hasn't always been there with Cardiff.

However, while the loss to Leeds had what the Cardiff Board feel were mitigating factors, Trollope knows what cannot be accepted are any more beatings like the recent 3-0 loss to Preston.

The togetherness Trollope has tried to instil will be tested to the full at Rotherham, who are bound to make Saturday's New York Stadium affair a niggly one and push the Bluebirds to the limits in an early season bottom of the table struggle.

So "you've got plenty of time as long as we win this weekend"?

This "fair amount of time" may end on Saturday when we lose again

I believe that scoring goals is pretty central to the game of football - and it's difficult to see how that's going to happen frequently.

The fair amount of time should have ended after the last 2 beatings against rubbish sides.

    That article contradicts itself.

Basically Tan/Board/Club is looking for 'immediate indication' that improvement is at least feasible under the current regime and approach.
Not quite the same thing as 'immediate improvement', but, it may as well be.
Trollope has to turn it around sharpish.

3-5-2 does not make a lack of pace, nothing clever on the ball, a lack of goal threat, a leaky defence anything like "The Welsh Way".

Perhaps the commitee are taking some responsibility for the hand they've dealt Trolls
