Hes done well. Deserves a chance next season.

Loan Etete there next season. See what he does out there.

Big goal for them if they can hold on.

    Re: Davies scores again

Oh dear, they’re 2-1 down well into added time now.

Hard for them to catch Charleroi in the safe spot now - 5 points behind. Could overtake Molenbeek, 1 point ahead of them, for a playoff against a team from the division below.

    Yes, 10 now.

I think he could do well under the right manager particularly a side who play a high pressing game.(which we dont).

Ive also just seen Kings assist. I doubt hed be doing that in a Bulut side.

Bellamy and Burnley saw enough in him to offer £1.5m.

This spills over into the Bulut debate, you know if he comes back he won't get a look-in under Bulut and will end up being under-sold.

He's the most natural goal scorer at the club.

I think he needed the loan and it will have done him the world of good whether he's here next season and beyond or moved on.

I wouldn't get too carried away, it's probably not quite championship level overall. Mark Harris has scored a similar number at Oxford in league 1, no one has yet mentioned it was a mistake to let him go.

Let's hope he's the saviour though as we absolutely could do with someone who knows where the net is.

I'm pretty sure that Kortrijk play 2 up front, and I think we would need to as well if he is going to be a success here, given how little suppport our strikers get

Oh lord what id do for 4-4-2 back.

Him and Etete up front would be my preference

Yes Etete is another who I think would be a much better player playing alongside someone up front. You could probably say the same for Robinson and Meite too, also Ashford

3-5-2 would be my preferred formation though

Shame. Seems a decent level to send loans.

    They do, and it is.
Should have used it more over the years.

    Agree, seems a missed opportunity.

City sent Idriss Saadi on loan to Kortrijk for the 2016/17 season. He scored 16 goals for them but never returned to Cardiff.

Incidentally, Ike Ugbo also scored 16 goals in his one full season in the Belgian top flight (2020/21). Food for thought.

    I'd completely forgotten about Saadi.

You forgot the guy who won the prestigious Loan Watch player-of-the-season award that year? Have a word with yourself. You'll be telling me you'd forgotten about Etien Velikonja next.

Saadi had a year left on his contract after his season at Kortrijk and we sold him to Strasbourg. It was an undisclosed fee but Wiki has it down as £1.35m. We've got the same option this time round with Isaak Davies (and Ebou Adams).

Saadi went back to the Belgian league in 19-20 with Cercle Brugge but only got 3 goals in 16 appearances. Ike Ugbo also went back, with Genk, in 21-22. He got 3 goals in 18 appearances and was then sent out on loan.

    I know - I'm deeply ashamed! Don't worry though, I hadn't forgotten Velikonja. 😁

I remember there being some excitement when we signed Saadi, youngish striker who'd played in Ligue 1 and scored a bunch in Ligue 2. Did he ever even play for us?

This goal? It's at around 0.37 here.

I was going to say 'what did Steve Tucker know?' but then I saw he described Rangers as fallen Scottish giants so he was obviously an intelligent bloke.
