Thread: The Velvet Underground & Nico +50 years

The Velvet Underground & Nico +50 years

Just got two tickets to see John Cale (plus unknown invited vocalists) perform the first Velvet Underground album at Liverpool Clarence Dock next May. Shame Lou Reed and Nico can't be there but should still be a great gig.

Wish the gig was in Wales, as it should be really, seeing as he is one of the few genuine Welsh musical rock n' roll gods out there

Hope its a good one for you, a great ,great band influenced so many, delivering music well before its time, and at the same time others were producing dross pop sounds for fame sake.

Loaded is still my all time favourite album , when " sitting by the fire "

The first two are in my top 10 albums. I quite often put Sister Ray on repeat on my drive home from Bristol.

Cate Le Bon must be nailed on for a couple of songs. She sounds more like Nico than Nico did.

Any recommendations from people ITK for a decent hotel in Liverpool? I've had The Liner suggested. Also The Thistle.

"" I'm waiting for my man
    Twenty-six dollars in my hand
    Up to Lexington, 125
Feel sick and dirty, more dead than alive
    I'm waiting for my man
    ""

If JC sings it, should it be renamed "Waiting for my mam?"
