Gold's up £190, circa 20%, an ounce since Brexit.

Carney, the ex Goldman Sachs shyster, and his MPC is responsible for driving the pound's value down from 1.32 against USD. The government can overrule them so it is to blame for the interest rate cut. And of course, most of the cost of filling up is Fuel Duty.

I forgot that petrol never actually went before Brexit
Are you suggesting that Brexit will not actually cost the average person in the UK anything?

On the plus side when you sell that French house of yours you'll earn a fortune since the currency has crashed.

Yes BUT the government hasn't increased fuel duty has it ?
This is purely down to Brexit and a dithering government.

Well it had come down nicely until Brexit you half witted twat.

If May was a football ref we'd all sing " You don't know what you're doing " and we'd be right.

It's up for sale but no Brits can now afford it and the frogs won't buy it as we're Brits.

Good isn't it. Plus all the bills I have to pay have now whizzed up too.

Still it's worth it to annoy Tory twats like you old chap. I might just go and live there if
Brexit makes things even worse as seems very likely.

It's you that seems annoyed not me. I couldn't care less.

If it helps my pension fund is linked to the FTSE so has done nicely out of Brexit.

would you prefer capital flight or a slowly depreciating pound?

the fact that gold is up is of interest only to those who hold gold as an investment. thats not the majority. keeping a lid on prices where possible has to be the aim of any economic policy

    .
Well thank goodness for that, I'm sure that will bring a great sense of comfort to those of us who have a stash of gold bullion stashed away under the sink.

    Is this tongue in cheek?.

This has absolutely nothing to with the EU and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves.

We haven't even left yet ffs and we buy 99% of our oil from outside the EU.

And the oil we do consume within the EU is from the north sea?.

I doubt you'd have fun considering they don't work as much as us and there are less jobs.

If you hate giving money away good luck in socialist france

I'm guessing it's linked to oil being traded globally in dollars.

Brexit has had a negative impact on the £ against the $ hence the increase at the pumps.

Still, at least we won't have to let any more brown people in.

The £ going down helps exports does it not ?, it also means its cheaper to invest in the UK.

The pound going down is not good for companies that import raw materials for manufacture to sell within the UK (thats an opportunity for UK business to provide an alternative - a new Marmite)
We import roughly £20bn a month more than we export.

Not really the end of the world considering what producers do has far more of an affect on prices.

Currency is not set in stone and it'll rise.

I voted leave I couldn't give an absolute shit about whether you are brown, white or orange.

    Borrrrrrrringggggggggggggggg.

oil is sold in dollars, even in the UK markets. if the dollar appreciates, the price of oil, and all subsequent costs that are dependent on oil, will rise.

I did know this but it slipped my mind . I don't know much about it but I know it was agreed in a meeting in America somewhere after WW2 wasn't it?. America basically becoming the reserve currency of the world.

And it is said america has carried wars for countries trying to trade oil in other currencies.

You're referring to the Breton Woods agreement that was signed by the allies in the aftermath of WW2.
In essence, the Americans got their own way.

Blame Mark Carney as well as the Brexit nobs. Nearly half of the fall was since he further reduced interest rates, despite the strongest growing economy in the developed world???!?? Its almost like he wants people to feel the pain to reassure himself a remain vote was better.

And try a different petrol station, my petrol has gone up 7p in a month!

Is it not the case though, that in order to stimulate the economy, interest rates need to be kept low?

Over the pond, the Fed has set interest rates at a similar rate to the BOE I believe? If they increase them, will that make matters worse for us?
