    Wales face FIFA hearing over poppy display.

    FIFA's disciplinary committee has announced the opening of proceedings against the Irish Football Association and the Football Association of Wales in relation to incidents involving the display of poppy symbols during recent internationals.

    It was a bit dumb come to think of it.

    What is the difference between wearing an arm band with it over organising it in the crowd?.

    Fifa told Iran to play on their holiest day. So they did. Then fined them for Iran telling the fans to chant religious chants.

    Wearing a poppy is neither religious or political though.

    One is the players on the pitch and the other is the fans and separate from the football game

    Two charges seem specifically focused on the fans (those wearing their own personal poppy and the banner - I saw one in the Canton which had something akin to "lest we forget") which suggests that FIFA were dead keen on kicking up a fuss whatever happened. It may also be that England's combative attitude has screwed us all over.

    You have to feel especially sorry for NI: their poppy display could have been anything with "remembrance poppy" scoring just 32 when the pointless audience was polled.
