Thread: Ben Woodburn

    Ben Woodburn

Came on for Liverpool today (albeit for about a minute), anyone think this is enough to earn him a place in a full Wales squad?

Getting 30 seconds at the end of a game? Is that what qualifies these days

30 seconds more than Harry Wilson had played when he became our youngster ever player

Its just a suggestion, besides do you think Simon Church is really that much better than Woodburn?

    Re: Ben Woodburn

Well given the next Wales squad won't be announced for about four months there's time for him to try and get himself ahead of the likes of Church, Lawrence and Bradshaw.

Being Welsh is what qualifies surely?

Good to see Woodburn get his debut. Will be interesting to see if he and Wilson are given more of a chance now due to injuries and African Cup of Nations.

Yes, I'm sure he would if you put a match to him!

    Re: Ben Woodburn

I seem to recall rules around this stuff changing recently. Previously he may have represented us up to U21 but England would still have the right to poach him for their senior squad I think.

If that remains the case then the value in playing him now is more to prevent England from capping him rather than expecting him to be up to scratch just yet.

Ben Woodburn is really tearing up trees at Liverpool. The question is whether the young man can translate this into senior performances.

Our Ben's on. Doesn't mind having a pop. Looks a confident player.

Took Michael Owens record as liverpools youngest ever scored. Not bad.

    Coleman needs to cap him!!

Why cap a youngster when we can just keep giving Simon Church a place?

Couldn't agree more. We need to get him on the pitch for the national team. If only for a few seconds.

    Re: Ben Woodburn

Surely Coleman will get him in the squad for Ireland.

    Re: Ben Woodburn

Just give Woodburn whatever he wants, give him the Brecon Beacons if he wants them. Just make sure we get him.

    Re: Ben Woodburn

Most times I've seen him play he looks absolutely quality. But can't see him getting a cap anytime soon unless we have a friendly arranged in March or June; Coleman just doesn't seem to have the time now to blood new young players. Ireland game is absolutely crucial and I imagine Serbia will be the same so just don't see it happening - but I can't see him switching countries either so we'll be okay, fingers crossed.

His Grandmother once spoke to someone that was Welsh so should be fine.

He needs to be capped in a qualifier. If he's capped in a friendly he could still choose England.
I also think we'll be fine though.

Ok so he scored, big deal, it was against Leeds.
I'll reserve judgement until he scores against a big club.
