I reckon that India will be around 50 runs ahead meaning that England will need a 300 plus lead to have a shout.
So much depends on how this track holds up with India batting last.

The issue will then be in who replaces him, Root is slightly under par as well and with the burden of captaincy that might hinder his game more.

Personally id write this tour off, and stick with cook until after the next ashes tour.
