Not sure about Cathedral Rd but if you went further up to Romilly Crescent there's a place called Arbennig which is nice.

Same area, Bully's is very good too, but you'll probably have to book. On Cathedral Road itself I've not eaten there but I've heard The Cricketers is good.

Very happy to second that, in my opinion, Arbennig is as good as it gets in the City.

Had a lovely meal at Elgano on Cathedral Rd a few weeks back before the Serbia game, very impressed.

Elgano is meant to be a really good Italian , will be going there soon. Riverside Cantonese is handy for the tramshed as well

Cheers all, ended up going in to town and going for a boring old curry, everywhere was heaving. We also went to the old rose and crown (now the hop bunker) which is a superb gaff for the proper beer/pilsener fan. Will deffo use the above recommendations in the future.

As for Marillion, they were pretty good, but experienced the stickiest beer floor in the history of sticky beer floors in the Tramshed.

The food was lame to say the least. We did go back recently only as we were invited for a meal there with friends - again - not good at all, the staff dont seem to give a feck and neither do the management by the look of things.

Arbennigg is nice (very nice) - restaurant prices but still good value , so is Bullys - but a bit far from the Tramshed. The Cricketers is also very good and the couple of times we've been there.

One of the nicest places is Calla Brisella (dodgy spelling) it's opposite Tesco in Canton - dont be put off by the location or the look of the place. It is one of the best Italian restaurants in Cardiff - they wont be there for long - as they will probably move to a nicer location.

None of these hovels are suitable establishments for a gourmet such as myself.

Having spent 35 years in the hospitality industry , there are many horror stories , one chef in a Carvery used to work , cock out under his apron handing out plates to customers , . Any fit women were given a plate via freshly rubbed knob end on his fingers .
