9-ball pool's version of the Ryder Cup starts on Tuesday at the Alexandra Palace. Used to be a must-watch but Europe have become so strong that there's not quite the same edge to it these days. An American win would put some life back into the contest but that looks unlikely. Europe have Neils Feijen, Jayson Shaw, Mark Gray, world champion Albin Ouschan and Darren Appleton. The Americans have a deaf genius and four idiots, as usual.

Rodney Morris and Darren Appleton will be facing each other again. If you've never seen a pool player call his opponent a motherf**ker and offer him out for a fight then here's your chance.

Yes, it was usually ran from Thursday to Sunday over the last weekend before Christmas I believe - these days it tends to be over and done with before I realise it's started!
