    Re: Star wars

    looking forward to it

the reviews have said its pretty deep and intense

Now i love Star wars, I went though spell of buying " signed movie posters " ( my wife said it was a mid-life crisis / breakdown just before we had our first daughter, she is right, i spent over 4 K on posters when she was expecting, fook knows why ? ? ? well i do, i had a idea i would have a big enough house to have a " home cinema " , it will never happen though ) I have the complete set all signed by the actors in them, I am a star wars fan

fair play to disney, they will take the franchise and run with it, disney didnt buy 4 billion bucks on it for nothing

Never understood peoples' obsession with this or Star Trek, Close Encounters etc...
Each to their own I suppose.

    Same here

Went to see the first one when I was a kid and fell asleep.
Tried again last month as they're on demand on sky so thought I'd see what all the fuss was about.

40 odd years have passed but still zero interest zzzz

You've never watched any but you can't understand people's obsession

I'm another of the 'Never watched Star Wars' brigade. Doesn't appeal to me one bit.

    Re: Star wars

Watched the first three as a kid and not overly impressed. (Although I did collect the figures.)
Watched the remastered first one in a cinema in Germany in the nineties when stationed there with the army. It was a Saturday matinee and a group of neo nazis kicked off with a group of Turks. There was popcorn and chairs raining down from every angle. They stopped the film and we missed the end.
Never watched any of the films since. Absolute crap!

I went to see it last night, I'm a fan so it was always going to appeal to me but, yes I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt the force once more

I saw the first one at The Plaza and spent the entire film dropping sweet wrappers from the front row of the top tier.
Haven't seen another Star Wars film since and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

    Re: Star wars

    I love star wars.
I think the obsession is like football.
Because the films have spanned over 40 yrs everyone got fond memories .

Like football, my dad took me to watch Return of the Jedi when I was 6.

When the prequels came out, i took my son to watch revenge of the sith.

The force awakens came out last year and my son is an adult soon. No doubt, he'll have a kid within 6 years and will watch episode 9 with his offspring.

Star wars movies are successful for a reason, loads of characters and a proper good v evil movie with a religion thrown in that we would all like to believe in.

When I was young , I actually tried to use the force to get the remote control.

I've seen them all with my son. I can honestly say I cannot see what the fuss is all about. The last one I saw last week on dvd; it had rave reviews but was a load of rubbish. It was a real chore to watch.

    Definitely this.

Rogue one is great, one of the best star wars films possibly.

I saw on the news once that a Star wars fan killed his girlfriend for selling some of his memorabilia on ebay, I was really shocked, I didn't know Star wars fans even had girlfriends.

I did manage to watch about half an hour actually so perhaps this is why I confused my written English. Perhaps more clarification is in order.

I understand that there are people who are obsessed with this and other sci-fi stuff.
What I don't understand is why.
    I have no interest.
Star Wars, The Empire, Darth Vader, C3PO et al do nothing for me.
To say Star Wars box set is on my Xmas list would be a lie.

Merry Christmas sir and congratulations on your promotion, welcome to the grammar police

    I don't understand people's obsession with football.
MOTD is about all I do now.
The match day experience down there for me is boring. I haven't been since 2013.

I'd much rather a nice warm house, movies night in with the family, pyjamas and slippers.
Cwtch in with the dog on the settee.

If city were in the top 2 mind, I'd be straight back down there, moaning about trying to get a ticket cos of all the plastics turning up

Assuming this is a satirical swipe at me, I have managed to get to most home games this season.
As for being in the top 2, we can dream, although the prem doesn't have the draw for me it once had.
I am partial to those nights in you describe too mind.

By the way, aren't you a Man U fan?
