Early yuletide biddings, but merry Christmas and happy new year 2017

It has been a very strange year this year hasn't it?

On the field we saw Sloppy Slade given the old Doc Marten, after serving up some dirge on the pitch for quite some time. In a new wave of optimism we saw Mr Trollope promise us The Welsh Way. We thought we were going to end up with a load of youngsters applying a swashbuckling style on the pitch. We saw a lot of the buckling and not much swash. Given his marching orders just a few months later the Yorskhireman with a hairdryer join us. We saw a bit more testes out on the pitch at least and a bit more structure. Quality at a low ebb, though. We a great start against the wurzels only for us to run a little stagnant. Three managers in a year and the same old cosmetic and corporate bull-speak from the vocal ever present Malaysian hotel manager in the absence of the retreating Vinny T. We end the year with a split camp. Some thinking Warnock has already peaked and those such as yours truly believing he is yet to hit his heights with our team. We'll see what 2017 brings.

Speaking of the Welsh Way we saw Wales in the Euro 2016. Disappointing in the 2-1 against the White Shyte from across the border at least we can say we outlasted them and give us a source of pride. No.1 in the UK. Not bad! And what a trip it was. Enjoying the sun and wine of Bordeaux. Drinking Kronenbourg with Tramps in Tolouse and seeing Malcolm Allen getting wasted in a pub. Thumping the Russians 3-0 and getting sweet revenge for our play-off defeat under Sparky near the turn of the millenium. Singing until we cannot sing no more and putting our team and fans firmly planted in the minds of Europe's elite media. Good times. Wonderful stuff. More to come from there I sense from our Dragons. Let's see Harry Wilson get a tournament match and Ben Woodburn get his debut in 2017 please.

Off the field, and in our lives we have had Brexit, Trump, bombs going off over Europe and a coup in Poland. Merkel will probably get a handbag over her head in the forthcoming elections. That bug-eyed idiot Hollande will be out on his lugs soon, thank goodness. Le Pen posing a big threat, unfortunately. Holland could also go native. Continent is looking dodgy. We are looking dodgy. Mad times at the moment. More mad ones ahead, too. What comes next, one wonders?

At least we console ourselves with friends, family and temporary shagpieces at Christmas. A few tunes, a few ales and a cheeky whisky in fine company. Job done. Happy days. Have a great one, all!
