There is a lot of of famous folks out there now. Many decades worth.
A lot of them of them old, and/or not looking after themselves, like the rest of society , maybe more so.

My guess is that 2017 will be a year of almost daily 'surprises' also. And 2018. And ..

I thought she died when she died in the show for some reason.

There's a shedload of celebs nowadays who are only "famous for being famous", many thanks to those flaming "reality" shows that bear no resemblance to reality.
In a few decades, there'll be so many celeb deaths that they'll hardly be worth reporting.

I watched the Queen of Sheba only a few nights ago, the best single episode of any sitcom ever made no doubt.

No, you wrinkly old buzzard, Fawlty Towers' The Psychiatrist episode holds that accolade.

As for these celebrities popping off, I'm wary of going to bed nowadays for fear of another one failing to make it through the night.

Fawlty Towers is the best sitcom ever made but "Queen of Sheba" is incredibly powerful and emotional, not many sitcoms can make you feel like that.

Royle Family hugely overrated sitcom, never quite understood the attraction.
Liked Liz Smith though and I thought she played a good part.
Also "In Loving Memory" I have fond memories of.
    Respect for Liz Smith.

I thought her best performance was in A Private Function (got a BAFTA), and as Mrs Bag in "The Testing of Eric Olthwaite" (Ripping Yarns). It turns out she was a bit of a philosopher too:

"Begin somewhere; you cannot build a reputation on what you intend to do".

"To deny we need and want power is to deny that we hope to be effective".

"One of the best parts of growing older? You can flirt all you like since you've become harmless".

    She will be missed.

Well yes, but not all of us can relate to that scene like we can to the "Que Sera Sera" scene.
