    Misunderstood lyrics

Some posts in the 'SOS' thread got me thinking..

Misunderstood lyrics that you (or somebody you know) has actually sung - aloud or just in your head.

Got any howlers that you want to admit to?!

I always though the operatic bit in Bohemian Rhapsody went: "Beelzebub's put a telephone aside for me"

Go on - post your worst mistakes

Wasn't that tune a follow up to 'Sue Lawley'

I frequently get Breeders lyrics wrong. Then I learn what they are and I forget them again.

I thought Driving on 9 was "Driving all night". The song is called Driving on 9. In my defence, who really looked at song titles on CDs?

You must have been posh. We'd never even seen an aubergine in 1972.

They were plain old eggplants back then, before the divisive rebrand.

Another ABBA one - I remember thinking the first line from verse one of Super Trouper was:
I was sick and tired of everything
when I called you last night from Tesco

They were sold on the outdoor market on the Hayes in the late sixties/1970. My brother was amused by them and brought one home. He told me that it was an 'ormagee' (as he understood it from the stall holder) and included images of it in his cartoons.

Every time you go away, you take a piece of meat with you.

To be fair I was only 6 when that song came out.

Whitney Houston's 'saving all my love for you' I used to think she was singing 'Cos I'm shaving off my muff for you'

    You certainly butchered those lyrics.

I always heard Donna Summers' 'I feel love' as 'Nappy Love'.

'Do they know it's Christmas?' was a line that always made me cringe - as other dogmas are available over there.

Kings of Leon - "You want it, she's got it, Johnny Vegas gonna change your mind"

A great one I heard on here years ago was someone who misheard the words to a City song

"I'll be there, I'll be there, with a little bit of trouble I'll be there"

Went travelling to oz in 1989 and took stone roses new album with me. Lad I was living with from Plymouth would wander around the house singing "I wanna be a dog".....we'd all have a little giggle every time but we never told him and one day he just shot off.

What did he think of the "you adore me" part? Was he adored because he wanted to a dog?

We did wonder about that, he was a tad simple mind and really hadn't given it any thought I reckon, he prob thought it was about a bloke whose dog adored him....
