Up until the point that we were instructed not to like him he was considered the messiah down here.

Now, he didn't have a clue what he was doing from start to finish according to the majority??

Marshall and Hudson were signed by DJ not Malky.

    Some of Malky's signings were:

    Kiss - £500k
    Kimbo - £2m
    Noone £1m
    Mutch £2m
    Etien £1.5m (yes, seriously!)
    Maynard £2.5m
    Frazier £650k

Now some of those guys were good players, some of them an even better bit of businesss but yes, Malay spent over £10m assembling that promotion winning squad, great manager imho, but imagine what warnock could do for us with £12m to spend.

Would it be better than winning the division easily and getting to a major cup final?

I went to the trouble of finding the details that you asked for of the £12m that Malky spent, now you're saying £12m is nothing while praising Malky for buying Hudson and Marshall. Bizarre.

Also, Warnock says we didn't pay anywhere near £2m for him.

Manga to possibly stay as well, I can't see him signing a new deal but maybe the club aren't fielding any offers.
Sorry, how does that mean we saved a seven figure fee?

Weird thread this. Where did you see the word fee in that post?

No one said the club saved a seven figure fee. The saving is on wages - if you believe the manager, club and local press.

Most of the recent reports now seem to agree that there was no fee (or a nominal fee) for Immers to sign from Feyenoord, but that he was on just under £15k pw. It was a 2 year contract. He has gone after 6 months by mutual agreement, and the implication of Warnock's last interview was that he 'tore up his contract' in order to play some football and be at a club just 90 minutes away from his partner and new baby.

So 18 months wage savings = approx £1.17m, a seven figure sum.

Had a great time @CardiffCityFC Thanks to everybody in and around the club. Some things can change your life, i should always love this club
Immers' posted this on his twitter (to which Noone and Pilkington responded wishing him) and the story about him ripping up his contract would suggest a genuinely positive relationship between us and him.

There was a massive difference between Malky's first season here and his second and third. The first seemed to be about long term planning, the second about instant success and the third a bit of a mess all round. I don't think he did enough to build for the premier league in the second season windows however he met the targets he was given ("promotion or sacked", wasn't it?) and was probably our last successful transfer period because of this. Kiss has been brought up but I seem to remember him being signed before Tan wished for far greater ambition so more of a first season buy than second despite when it happened. I think the most impressive job Malky did however was probably in his first season and that we have come somewhat full circle back to that strategy (limited funds, mixing clever buys with restructuring the club in order to push for play-offs) is testament to that.

Malky's first season did have the one advantage of a clean slate to work with. Warnock is trying to do a similar job but has a full squad, some of whom aren't good enough, which was signed under 5 previous managers and probably 8 different ideas for how the club should be run. Therefore I think some leeway should be extended to him (and indeed Slade and Trollope who had to follow Ole and transfer committee) in his cheap punts this season. Perhaps he should do more over the summer but if we're saying he's got a 50% success rate so far then things are looking far more positive.

If we are factoring in money spent and money recuperated on transfers into how successful they are then we should look to Spurs and try to identify why they are so good at selling players. So many of our players of late have left with us desperate for them to go (inflated wages and/or not playing because we don't think they are good enough) which has put us in a weak negotiation position. I reckon that is far more down to Ole and the transfer committee during his windows than it was to do with any other manager. We should also maybe look into why Spurs are not always the best at buying but this post is probably already far too long.

The way we ended that season was dreadful but lucky that the teams around us didn't take advantage..
He did. He was given a 3 year time limit to get us into the top flight. After his first season went so well, Tan and others thought promotion could be achieved more quickly and changed their mind, wanting promotion in the season we gained it.
