Thread: Mats Dæhli

    Mats Dæhli

Has gone on loan to St Pauli apparently in bundersliga 2.
He lad is still only 21 so there's still plenty of time for him to become a decent player.

It'll be interesting to see if he gets much game time there.

He been 21 for years .

I do think he will get a good club one day , if he cloud bulk up and keep his skill ,he would be dangerous, wow what a club to play for , he is very lucky

Since he left Cardiff he has made 2 league starts and 1 start in the cup, added to 3 substitute appearances.

He's 22 in March and is still not looking like converting that promise to actual showings. I still believes he lacks that yard of pace to be a top player, he was beating men during his time here but the defenders simply recovered ran back and tackled him.

I would be very surprised if he made it as a top level player.

I can't see him making it. He drifts in and out too much. He can run and beat a man once or twice a game, but it never comes to much. His decision making and delivery are poor. His influence is minimal. He's just unproductive.

How many times have we seen him play since he left us? Or are we still judging him based on Ole's time here where a teenager should not have been asked to be the star of a sinking ship?

He broke his leg pretty badly when he got to Germany. Not all players can make comebacks like Rambo...

It was telling that, by the end of his tenure, Solskjaer had seemingly lost faith in him, given the dwindling amount of time he played for us under Solskjaer.

I think he had 2 massive injuries. missing the best part of last season and half the season before that. Still young, who knows how it'll end, 21 only.

He will come good, guy is class. (If he can become injury free)

St Pauli are a big club.

And he is one of the most gifted players I've seen down the ground.

    A shame.

He is the long lost brother of Jonny Williams. Both of them have bags of talent and even look the same but can't stay injury free

They're not, really. They're well known and have a large supporter base of football hipsters that never actually go to games, but they've never really had any sustained success and are in the shadow of their neighbours HSV. Their attendances are in the low 20ks, which puts them about 25th of all the German clubs.

Also they lack that extra yard of pace. If either of them had that to their game, they'd be a player. Both would he helped by looking up a bit more, I love Joniesta but sometimes it looks like even he doesn't know what he's doing or where he is.

    I see.

I went to watch hamburg and St Pauli fans were near the ground saying they get thousands going to watch away games on a giant screen.

    May have been a lie.

They also look weaker than my nan when they are on the ball, which doesn't look great

They might do, football is incredibly well supported in Germany so that sort of thing isn't uncommon.

HSV are the biggest club in Hamburg (they've won everything incl a European Cup), they're 16th in the Bundesliga and their lowest attendance all season was 47k, averaging 52k. Amazing attendances given they've been terrible for 5+ years

    Re: Mats Dæhli

He has been out for almost two years. Undergoing a serious operation, not sure he ever would play football again. He is now reported to be back at the same levels he left, and went out on loan to get the required game time. I wouldn't judge him from his sick bed. Wether he can make a great comback or not, remains to be seen.

Looking at worldfootball.net, they are currently the 13th best supported club at home. Average about 29,500, think capacity is 32,000.

Ye there was video of the liverpool fan yesterday saying what was wrong with English football.

Since the premier league branding it has experienced the most commercialism. Money, money, money - Instead of protecting what really mattered.

Such as man city opening a VIP restaurant attached to the grounds tunnel, like a fish bowl.

Germany still has the working class fanbases due to the prices and is prospering because of it.

Quite an achievement given the numbers Pedro mentioned for their city rivals. Be interesting to know how many football "tourists" they get as they seem to be a club with a global cult following.

I read that Barcelona can get 30,000 tourists a home match!

Hamburg the city is a lot bigger than Cardiff though, it is the 2nd biggest in Germany, must be around 2million population

Just looked it up and it's 1.7m in the city and 5m in the wider area.
That'd be like if a country the size of Scotland had only 2 big clubs .

    Wait...
