    Until this

A legal case concerning the sale of video-streaming set-top boxes that can access subscription content for free began on Tuesday.
So-called "fully-loaded Kodi boxes" have gained popularity, but the legality of their sale is in question.

They are a coming for thee

I bought a fully-loaded Kodi box when I was in Thailand last month.
I don't bother with it but my wife uses it to keep the grandkids amused on the weekends.
    Am I breaking the law?
I don't mean to sound stupid, but I'm just a dumb roofer and I don't understand all this malarky.

You won't have to. We cancelled our Sky but they offered us to keep the Sky+ for nothing! So we still have all the freeview channels and pause, rewind, record etc...

In fact, today police have raided people selling the Kodi boxes: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38906561

Five people have been arrested, accused of selling set-top boxes modified to stream subscription football matches, television channels and films for free.

The sale of so-called "fully loaded Kodi boxes" has been called a "top priority" by the Federation Against Copyright Theft (Fact).

We don't have any for sale. We only have the one and we're keeping it.

I don't know if they've started collecting data for the Snoopers Charter because of the European Parliament's objection but if they are collecting data then a Kodi box, or any of those types of boxes will end up getting the owner in trouble.

I wouldn't mind betting that Rupert Murdoch was the main advocate of the charter in the first place. One thing is for sure, it aint about catching terrorists.

If you're lucky it would just be a warning letter from your internet service provider at first but there were cases a few years back where people who downloaded music were getting a court summons/demands for large fines with the threat of much larger fines if the downloader actually went to court.

You're not paying for your TV viewing though. My sister's friend had a £750 fine 10 years ago because of Limewire.

So what happens if you just don't pay the fines?

    Exactamondo dude!

Expect to see a few people dragged through courts in the next year or two, heavy fines, and people ditching Kodi-streams out of fear. Kodi are distancing themselves from the methods used to steal - sorry stream media from Sky for free.

It is theft, and the corporations will win.

Big brother is watching us all

And people used to come out with the excuse
    " I don't mind I've got nothing to hide"

    Oh well to late now
