    supermarket petrol

    is it true that petrol from supermarkets is crap compared to shell and bp etc?

    Not always. There are some that are better and some worse fuels from the supermarket's. Texaco is meant to be good. And BP ultimate Shell VPower are very good.

    Otherwise pretty much similar. Supermarket fuel has less additives to look after the engine. A one in 4 or 5 tanks of Ultima or V Power will be just as effective in cleaning the engines deposits. That's what I tend to do. Increased performance (very slightly) and improvements in MPG. So the extra costs pay off in more miles per tank.

    Play safe with a shot of Redex with every tankful of petrol?

    i thought redex was only for old cars and it is bad for new engines?

    I only ever have old cars, so no problem!

    Doe that end up costing about as much as a Premuim grade, or does it still work out cheaper?

    Redex is often " on offer " in Tesco's, often 2 quid a bottle

    I don't drive anymore
    but my mrs swears she gets more mpg out of Asda petrol than Tesco.
