Thread: Whitts

    Whitts

So, the last three games have been with Whitts on the bench, unused in all three games.

Now his talent and commitment to city is beyond question, but, and this may be seen as sacrilege to some, but are we a better team without him?

Results whenever Whittingham doesn't play seem to suggest we ARE a better team without him.

I'm not sure of his contract situation? However, a further one year contract on vastly reduced wages would be the most he could hope for right now.

I would like to see him remain with the squad.
Yes, we have had three straight wins without him and NW is building a team that does not rely on him, but not so long ago fans were agreeing that he should return and bring some much needed passing ability to the midfield.

Going forward he will spend more time on the bench but still a very useful player to have in your locker.

I was told by a mate yesterday that he was on 42k per week. Must admit I was surprised, and would like to get some clarification on that. I like Whitts, and feel he has been better this season than he has in last two, but that seems a lot money.

    Bollox.

Kenwynne was our biggest earner after we came down and he was ludicrously on £37k a week (Thanks Ole)

I imagine Whitts is on a large contract but I would hazard a guess its probably less than half of that and his next contract offer is probably half of that again

Not that I have the foggiest what his wages are nor do I care - he deserves far more respect from us
Don't hear about Swansea fans bitching about what Britton earns

It's probably just over half that amount. However, even circa 25K is a lot for someone who is becoming increasingly a bit part player for us. As I said earlier, I don't know what he has left on his contract but I wouldn't be too surprised if this was Whitts' last season with us, given the noises coming from the club about still having to trim our wage bill.

Why do you say that Kenwynne Jones' wages were ludicrous (Iagree, they were) but you don't care what Whitts is on?

The club needs to cut its cloth accordingly, not sure we can any longer justify paying players above 20K a week when they seldom play (Ben Amos being another!).

For the record, I am not bitching about what he earns. I just thought it wasn't right and asking for some sort of clarification/thoughts on it. I would like to see him stay and hope he breaks Dwyer's record of appearances.

I don't think 37k for Kenwyne was ludicrous, he was a top quality player. We should have had an agreement where he'd drop somewhat if we went down.

I think whitts could suit this team now he has protection from Gunnar and someone defending from the front in Zahore.

It might be because he's a club legend who's shown immense loyalty to us when he could have moved elsewhere.

I could do half of what Kenwynne did (not move very quickly around a football pitch) so can I get paid 18.5K a week please?

I'm sure a drop in wages will be talked with Whitts over the summer. He still has an awful lot to offer, though perhaps in the Michael Carrick role where not every game is suited to his play.

    Re: Whitts

Why do so many fans claim to know how much players wages are as if it's common knowledge? I'm sure it's all just guess work. How would anyone other than KJ and his agent know how much he was getting paid?

Watched him over here for a month or so when he joined the local "Arabian League".
The league is incredibly poor and is about on par with the conference (at best).

He struggled big time and was comfortably marked out of games by virtual "park" players.
He now cannot make the first team ........

Apparently Al Jazira moved him on as he offered nothing.
I believe he is now in the North American league

The problem with Kenwynne is he has all the talent but just can't be bothered. He needs the right manager behind him and incentivised.

When I read "But the Bluebirds boss says he won't set any deadline for the 97-goal hero to make his mind up over staying in South Wales, admitting the set-piece specialists deserves the respect not be rushed.", I took it as he's been offered a new much crappier contract.
