Thread: Media ignoring football violence.

    Media ignoring football violence.

Lots of trouble at White Hart Lane but ignored by the BBC news outlets as well as others.

We can't have anything spoiling the " beautiful game " myth can we.

To be fair a lot of handbags and not really worthy of mass reporting. From what i can see, it seems a fair balance and i certainly wouldn't say it wasn't covered.

The BBC had this in one article, "There was a heavy police presence outside White Hart Lane before kick-off on Sunday, with supporters of both teams having to be separated as skirmishes occurred, while bangers, flares and bottles were thrown."

The Guardian Podcast on Thursday said they expected trouble and it got a separate article focusing on the racist chanting and violence in and around the ground, other papers covering it too.

I saw something about the racist chant at Son. The millwall fans were shouting DVD and 3 for a fiver.

Hardly racism that. Just having a laugh at a stereotype. Worlds gone PC mad..

The thing is that's easy for us to say as white men who've faced very little discrimination in our lives. If you're the race that's being stereotyped it probably feels a lot more like racism than if you're the fat, bald white guy shouting it.

I love the irony in this thread that some people are saying stereotyping is just funny and people get offended about anything.

Then there are plenty of people being offended by the way violence is covered in a game they watching compared to a game they don't like watching.
