Tory election spending claims: 12 police forces pass files to CPS

Fake news obviously, but, if it isn't, I bet you all of the MPs are liberal elite globalists.

There will be by-elections, and these are all in marginal constituencies, if we had an organised opposition then we could have seen the Tory majority all but eliminated. As it is i don't see much changing.

That is how is seems .

So, now we have an elected Gov't that apparently thought it was OK to disregard manifesto promises, and have now been found to have simply disregarded election rules.
They may well get a rap on the knuckles over it, but , they remain utterly uncontested.

We'll have to get used to this stuff I reckon. It's not like we have a choice.

Would it be a first if the Electoral Commission rules that any constituency elections have to be re-run for breaking the spending limits - and fiddling the returns?

I don't expect that. The Tories will swallow the fines and carry on claiming it is all down to 'reporting errors' - whilst pointing out that Labour and the LibDems have also been fined for breaching the spending rules recently - but not on the scale of the Tories.

It is for situations like this that 'the long grass' was invented.

Where the rules are not followed, it undermines voters' confidence in our democratic processes, which is why political parties need to take their responsibilities under the legislation seriously.
The investigation found the party's 2015 General Election spending return was missing payments worth at least £104,765.
The Electoral Commission has fined the Conservative Party £70,000 over "significant" election campaign expenses issues.
Hmm, somehow the first quote doesn't seem to follow to the second or third. Unless there is more punishment coming then the idea that the fine could be less than the missing payments suggests the Electoral Commission didn't want to make a fuss over this breach in responsibility.

This will doubtless come up on Question Time tonight but as two of the panellists are Rees Mogg and Eagle I will give it a miss.

However big or small it is, its wrong and a crime, as with the MP's expenses exposure , flushed out by a right wing Paper (Telegraph) , when in comes to power , arrogance and greed are plentiful , whatever political party you are.
