Was that the game when Sheffi Kuci scored for Town, and Lee Bullock netted for us?

Correct, he made the Welsh squad for the 58 World Cup, but the FAW couldn't afford to take him to Sweden!

Yes it was and it was the final game of the 03/04 season - Ipswich needed to win to have a chance of making the Play Offs.

Re: Six decades of Cardiff City v Ipswich Town matches.

There is a very interesting interview with John Elsworthy below. Ipswich's first game in Europe after they won the league was played on "a sand and concrete pitch". I can't imagine that happening today. One of Elsworthy's team mates was Jimmy Leadbetter who I think must have been one of the frailest and oldest looking players ever to play at the top level. I would guess that he was even lighter than Brian Flynn who was just under nine stone. An 8 stone something player would not survive in the Premiership today. I think Leon Britton is one of the smallest but he is over 10 stone.

Here are some pictures of Jimmy Leadbetter in his late 20s or early 30s :

That Jimmy Leadbetter must have had a very tough childhood .

I'd heard of Leadbetter before, but I must admit that John Elsworthy was a new name to me - according to Wikipedia, he was a youth player at Newport.

    Thanks for those links .
