    Real Ale Pubs in Cardiff

Got a friend travelling down to Cardiff from Coventry this weekend with his family and dogs. He has asked about pubs that serve good real ale in the city. And any that are dog friendly. Anybody have any advice/recommendations.

Never been in there, but that one on the corner by the castle (old Rose & Crown), seems to have won loads of real ale awards.

As Tony said, The Hop Bunker has a great range, where the Barfly used to be.

City Arms has a great range too.

No idea if either are dog friendly though.

Brewdog is definitely dog friendly, it's a craft beer place though so doesn't sell what is technically 'real ale'. It does have a great selection of excellent beer though.

The problem with Brewdog is the extortionate prices. Just up the road is the Urban Tap House which is pretty good.

Depends what you drink really. Their own brew standard strength stuff is pretty much on par with other town centre drinking establishments. Dabble in the stronger or more obscure stuff and yes, it can get expensive.

The tiny rebel brewery or The Urban taphouse it may be called on Westgate Street. Was in there the other night and it had signs saying dog friendly
