Was it really Sexist though?
Or was Moyes pointing out that he doesn't discriminate based on gender, and slaps on merit instead?
I think we should definitely weave in the Scottish macho image...and a decade and more of living with Scousers
Is this the official feminist point of view ?
How do you therefore respond to the woman who said, ""Fundamentally it's a male-dominated environment that women find it incredibly difficult to break into and comments like this do nothing to encourage women."
I'm trying to think of a female who finds it incredibly difficult to break into a male-dominated environment.
Can you help me out here?
Anyway, back to the BIG issue:
In a carefully-worded press statement, a penitent Moyes said. “I am deeply sorry for any offence I may have caused and will immediately retract my comments – if someone would show which of them was sexist. Vickie is an important part of the scene at Sunderland – she looks and smells good and even chats with my players about video games.
I know that Vicki is an extremely able interviewer and not just some token employed by the BBC with its narrow-minded anti-sexism policy. She sometimes asks a really good question.
I happily extend to Vicki the freedom of the dressing room and bath immediately after matches and will gladly sit down with her and explain the offside law in the simplest of terms at the best time of the month for her.”
I don't think I have ever cared about anything less.
BBC Radio have banged on about it continually for days now.
Totally agree. It was a throwaway comment that's been blown out of all proportion - they were both laughing about it at the time.
Moyes must have spent ages composing his 'contrite' face for the apology.
If there is such a thing as sexism by being too anti-sexist, then this is a prime example.
It's this kind of PC overkill that got Donald Trump elected.
I. Dont think Moyes is sexist, he is probably a bit of a bully though.
I remember when he was at Preston he punched a player during contract negotiations.
Could probably do with brushing up on his media training.
As Slade ( the band ) should have sung :
" Ferk off David Moyes ,
scared to pick on boys ".
