Once I receive my new V5 & reg number I will inform my insurers & the RAC.
I don"t have to do anything about my MOT as although it will be in a different reg DVLA/VOSPA apparently attach a not on their system to say the reg of the vehicle has changed then when I next MOT it it will be done in the new reg.
I'd strongly recommend keeping all the documentation to hand for when it comes to selling the car to satisfy the buyer as this will all flag up on an HPI

I've only just come across this thread, and I've not read all of the posts, so I don't know if it's been mentioned. I remembered this item, which was in the news a couple of years ago, and might be worth considering if anyone has this problem in the future. In this case the police used their resources to prove his guilt, and by the same token should be as fastidious in making sure a miscarriage of justice is not perpetrated. To even pursue a case, where there is reason to believe a car has been cloned, could be described as perverting the course of justice.
