Thread: FGR

    Re: FGR

I have travelled and worked all over Britain but until now I had never heard of Nailsworth. It is a great achievement for a little place like that to have a League team. I would guess that the next smallest place with a team in the League would be Morecambe.

Yeovil has more than twice the population as Burslem, home of Port Vale.

Burslem is a multicultural area of Stoke-on-Trent with a significant Asian population.

    Population (mid-2015 est.)[7]
    • City 251,600

    Population 45,000 (2011)[1]

Guess which one is Port Vale and which one is Yeovil.

Manchester United are situated in old trafford part of the metropolitan borough of Manchester

    Population 13,000 approx.

    2,000 more than Burslem.

It could be argued that there a difference between the City of Stoke-On-Trent, the town of Burslem and the County Borough of Stoke-On-Trent, which they both represent a constituent part of. Not that I'm an expert. It's just that I used to work with a Port Vale fan.

Fortunately, I don't believe Bristol is part of Gloucestershire.

So what is the City and County of Bristol then? It's not South Gloucestershire is it? Bristol used to be part of Avon not Gloucestershire didn't it?

So many questions. I reckon you were a woolyback Pearcey.

Shameful comment young man.I think you have been spending too much time at Cheltenham Ladies College
Yep agree the City of Bristol used to be or still is in Avon. Never understood how or why Bradley Stoke was in Glos.

Stoke isn't your typical city. It's about 8 distinct towns merged into one pretty shitty city. Vale fans pretty much come from burslem & to a lesser extent tunstall. Having spent a lot of time up there, I don't think the comparison of burslem with other small towns with football clubs is unfair.

    .
Bristol has been part of Gloucestershire, Somerset, Bristol & I guess Avon at various points in history.

Both the Gas & Wurzles are affliated to the Gloucestershire Football Association, so from that perspective, the GFA have 4 representative clubs in the Football League next season (& I 've played against 3 of them, the Wurzles being the exception).

& of course Gloucestershire CCC are based in Bristol as well!

Bradley Stoke is a new town, historically in Gloucestershire, then Avon, now South Gloucestershire (= want to be part of Brizzle not part of a county!)
