When I was 11 my dad took me to London for a week as a "treat" for passing the 11+ exam. Somewhere I have a photo of myself standing on the doorstep of 10 Downing Street - that's how much the world has changed since those halycon days!
You're still much more likely to be killed crossing the road than you are in a terrorist attack. We are living in what is more or less the most peaceful time in history.

Don't be so dramatic and taken in by the 24/7 media coverage.
