Sad all these household names disappearing; makes you think of your own mortality - bit scary for 5 minutes.

Like most, had a soft spot for Roger Moore. I was 12 in 1958 when he appeared in his first starring role 'Ivanhoe' on ITV.

Looks naff now but seemed exciting in its day:

Anyone who has the ability to laugh at themselves is fine by me and Roger Moore was never one to take himself too seriously - there have definitely been better actors than him and characterisation of James Bond has not lasted too well in some ways, but, more important than that, he did seem to be a thoroughly decent bloke.

    RIP.

Agree with TOBW , Cowbridge and the others.

Decent guy who never took himself too seriously and got
paid to romp with beautiful women.

Watched Roger roger Goodnight in The Man With the Golden Gun on telly at the weekend
by coincidence and I thought lucky barsteward.

J.W. Pepper (Cliffton James) the funny fat Sheriff in the film died last month aged 96. That amazed me. I thought he must have died of a heart attack about forty years ago.

An almost identical plot to Alistair MacClean's "Puppet on a Chain"
