For the winger position it's better, typically, to look at younger players. Especially in terms of investment. As the wing is the one position on the pitch where pitch where pace is an absolute must. At 29, you would assume Hayes is likely to have peaked in that department.

This article seems a hyperbolic in terms of our interest. Probably going off our cheeky bid in January.

The Ward rumour could fit though. Might be one of the "squad players" NW mentioned.
