What was your favourite Whittingham did what he wanted moment? (To date)
Can be goals, assists, tekkers, or even titillating moments.
Can stiil hear the ball clipping the post on the way in.
Leicester away in the playoffs was great but, for me, it's the quarter final goal at Middlesbrough.
He scored some beauties fair play. That goal at boro was something else though, surrounded by four defenders, he displayed incredible skill to get that shot off, wonder goal.
Besides the obvious 2 already mentioned the goal against Barnsely is right up there also
The free kick away at Leicester. As mentioned the sound of it clipping the post. The stand was shaking from the celebrations.
Used to enjoy just watching him in the warm up drill where the attacking players would play a 1-2 then strike. His accuracy was a joy to watch. Rarely gave the keeper a chance.
A pass to Jay Bothroyd when we beat Coventry 2-1 at Ninian Park. Unbelievable.
I remember him sort of side volleying a pass from the penalty box at the Grange end finding possibly Joby Mc Nuff out on the right wing which completley took the defender out of the game. Mc nuff found Cameron Jerome in the box who duly buried it. Undoubtedly the best pass I have ever seen. Apologies that my description of it doesn't do it justice.
Just checked Mc Nuff had left before Whitts joined us. Racking my brain to remember who it was out wide then!
This one gets better every time I tell it, but when he faced a 4 v 1 break in the dying seconds at WBA in PL, won the ball-back and sent us down the other end to bag a 95th minute equaliser.
His free kick vs palace in the league cup semi when we was struggling to score and needed a goal
One that hasn't been mentioned yet. Reading away, ball breaks loose about 30 yards from goal, left of centre. Whitts hits it first time into the top corner. No preparation, pure instinct and brilliance. For me, easily his greatest goal for City just in that he had no time to think about it.
His first game (?) against Preston where he took it to the edge of out-of-play Grange End against their experienced defender, passed him with ease demonstrating great skill and set up Chops for a goal.
That Boro goal will live with me forever, outstanding
That screamer against Barnsley was technically more difficult, but the FA Cup goal wins it for me
