Can't help thinking this piece is right.

I was particularly interested in this part

"They are embarrassed at voting Tory, sufficiently so to deny their intent to friends, families and pollsters."

because I've always believed there are a lot of people who do this - I've never understood why though.

Most people dont want to have a stand up argument with other people - so they keep their heads down - and vote as they wish, with their head.

Tories have cocked up loads of things - Labour also.

I used to vote Labour, Ive also voted Lib Dem and Plaid - and Conservative.

Where I am - it's always a Labour win, so my vote doesnt really count for anything locally.
Sorry, but that doesn't wash with me - the part I quoted spoke of "friends, families and pollsters", I can see why there could, in a minority of cases, be heated arguments about voting intentions with family and friends, but pollsters?

I share a lot in common with Tory voters. I am now scared to reply to ninianclark incase he swears at me and calls me a stalker. Bloody socialists like him always attacking people.

This has always been the case, same in Spain. Empathy being the core human trait that you are born with (according to research). A vote for right wing parties is seen as apathy towards those that can't help themselves (however the situation or who's to blame), ergo they are embarrassed that they feel this way.

Apathy you learn, not empathy...human nature.

    Obviously broad generalisation with exceptions

Tories have nasty traits which people generally don't want to be associated with in public.

Because nobody likes a Tory so many of their voters have this dirty little secret

They go to bed singing " The working class can kiss my arse I've got the foreman's job at last ".
