    Portsmouth pre-season friendly cancelled

Club just announced the pre-season friendly with Portsmouth on 28 July is cancelled - after Portsmouth drawn at home in the League Cup.

They are trying to arrange a substitute game.

Blackburn Rovers would be ideal if they could do it. It could be Whitts testimonial sorted.

With most clubs having their pre season matches already arranged, it's going to be hard for City to arrange another match now and I think that, for the second successive season, we won't have a home game before the competitive stuff starts, but I see Portsmouth have been able to arrange another game at Crawley, so maybe we can find something - possibly against a foreign side on tour?

The first little negative in our next season. We'd ideally have a back-up plan in this eventuality.

Match against Hereford arranged for 7.45 pm on Wednesday 26th July at Edgar Street.

I assume this is the replacement for Portsmouth at CCS on 28th July?

The friendly against Shrewsbury is just the day before.

I wondered about that, but, given there's that game with Shrewsbury, the day before I think it's probably a Development side game.

Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think our chances of arranging a first team game for the weekend before the season starts are that good.

You are right, it is the u23s. I've just seen this on the club website (although Hereford are still describing it in a way that implies it is the 1st team):

Recently it was Valencia, Lazio, Ajax and Celtic at home, then it's downgraded to Bournemouth and Portsmouth. The wat it's going the home friendly is likely to be against Darlington or Accrington Stanley... next season perhaps Taffs Well.

Yeah, that's away, I'm talking about the one "prestige" home pre-season friendly.

Bridgend Street would be a crowd pleaser
