Watched it once and on reflection would rather watch my own cock be minced up with a blunt scissors than watch it again .

Each to their own, but feck me you would surely have to be simple to find Mrs Brown's Boys amusing.

I just watched the latest clip provided by Comical Tandy - did she pinch some of those jokes from the Russ Abbott show?

Mrs Brown, 1983 has called and they want their material back.

I never liked Russ Abbott either.

In 1975, John Cleese"s Fawlty Towers aired its first series. 6 episodes of wonderfully written pure comedy.

Regardless of if you like Fawlty Towers or not, you can appreciate that each episode is not simply a gag fest. It is farcical, but is started with a completely realistic scenario. The first series took Cleese 43 weeks to complete. Each script ran for 140 pages, the average is 65. He stopped after series 2 because he knew it would not be as good.

I don't think O"Carroll puts anywhere near that effort into his comedy. I reckon if the BBC called him up and asked him to turn it into a 26 episodes a series comedy, he would be able to do it. That's not a compliment. It's my opinion that there isn't a huge thought process going on.

So, thirty years after Fawlty Towers, we have people comparing Mrs Brown's Boys favourably with Fawlty Towers and using viewing figures to back it up. It's as amusing as people comparing Ed Sheeran or Bieber with The Beatles and backing it up with recent chart records.

I flicked over to it once and she was cutting her husband's toenails with a welders mask on as they were flying everywhere, in a scene very reminiscent of Mrs Doyle on Jack in Father Ted.

Ah, now Father Ted, now that is comedy, Irish comedy as well. Bit of a sacrilege mentioning it in a thread about Mrs Brown. One of the finest comedy shows ever, consistently funny and has stood the test of time, no problem.
