Not wishing to quell enthusiasm for the Burton match but a local paper here in the Midlands is carrying a Highways England ad advising that the Oldbury viaduct J1-J2 M5 is going to have a contraflow/30mph limit "from start of August" due to road works. Alternative route advised is M42/M6.Wolves are at home the same day as we travel to Burton, as are Villa with a 5.30pm kick off.
Looks like Highways England are anticipating long delays. Hopefully "start of August" comes after the 5th.
IanD people travelling up from south wales to burton would use the M42 route anyway . come off junction 9 or 10 and pick up the A38 which takes you straight to burton . Lot's of decent places to stop for a beer too along that route like Lichfield , barton under needwood or alrewas . Wouldn't make any sence to go anywhere near junction 1 or 2 on M5
