    Laptop help...please

My laptop has started struggling to display images on more or less all sites.
Can anyone suggest how I can fix the problem please?
    or, plan B...
I mainly use the laptop to keep in touch with family on fb, check this site (of course), emails but no involved games, so can you suggest a new laptop or tablet?
    thanks in advance...

First off make sure your antivirus is running and up to date and a scan has been done.

Now try a different browser. Try Firefox or Opera.

Avoid sites using Flash. Avoid sites using Java applets - Java itself is fine, the integration of browsers however isn't which is why NPAPI or whatever it was called was removed from any sensible browser.

    Thank you for your suggestions,
I use firefox and it is up to date
How can I check first to see if my Java and Flash is up to date to avoid downloading the version I already have?
fb is telling me my browser does not allow cookies, I have not seen that before, so how can I check that too?
    thanks again

Buy a Mac or put up with the above every 3-5 years

You have to allow cookies to view facebook I think, does it ask if you want to?

These should help you check what version you have.

I've had several Macs and I prefer Windows - Windows 10 particularly.
I cannot even remember the last time I had any problems whatsoever.

I removed the battery then put it back in and everything is working as before
    Funny old world...
Thanks for (nearly) all the advice too

Something that you can try - works surprisingly often, but not always.

If you have an admin account on the laptop, try making another, new user account and logging into that newly created account.

if things seem OK, just srtart using that new login instead.
You should be able to copy all of your documents, vids and photos across if you want.

Very often makes fairly minor problems go away.
Not always, but worth a go before giving up.
