To be honest, they are a lot lower than I was expecting.
Most could probably get more away from the beeb, so that's what you have to pay to get people to do the job. It's as meaningful as complaining that football players are overpaid

To put this into perspective Ant and Dec earned £29.5m last year. The highest paid talent at the BBC is paid £2.5m

Thats not strictly true though is it. Im sure those on the Beeb have other revenue streams. Linekar works for BT Sport also.

Ant and Dec are paid from private money, the Beeb is public money.

How much revenue have Ant and Dec helped to generate for ITV ( high ratings = higher advert fees, sales of programme abroad et al ).

How much revenue has the goalhanger raised for BBC?

Are Ant and Dec being paid by the taxpayer?

Only Derek Thompson I knew of was the guy who used to present the horse racing - I genuinely didn't know who the BBC's highest paid actor was.

The Any and Dec reference says it all doesn't it - just more politics I'm afraid.

Another point that i just saw posted is that Chris Evans gets 9.38m listeners to his show per week, those listeners are paying him 26p per year to listen to him.

Still less than the general election cost.

The highest paid female actor is on under 300k a year. Footballers get that in a week.

    J-Mo is on 250k, that's why he's always in Cicchetti's.

It would be fairer if they were to publish commercial channels stars wages as well, after all we pay for their wages indirectly through advertising costs which is added to products that we buy.

Advertising costs are incurred irrespective of you buying the product or not.

TV license is let's be honest a tax. You can choose to subscribe to Sky, whatever but have to pay for the license even if you don't watch BBC. The fact that people are in prison for not buying a TV license is quite frankly an utter disgrace.

You are indirectly paying toward the cost of any product you buy which has been advertised on ITV though. Agree imprisonment for paying the license fee is ridiculous.
I am not a fan of the BBC but to me this is an attack by the Tories wanting to control it

I don't really care what Gary Lineker earns but if Mark Lawrenson earns more than me then I'm emigrating to Syria!

Cant believe David Jason is so far down in the earning stakes.

I am not entirely sure I see the point of this whole exercise. The BBC operates commercially overseas so it can't be viewed solely as a public sector TV/radio provider.
