99.9% sure Bobby Robson was watching Mariner - he signed for Ipswich shortly afterwards.

End to end stuff, especially when you consider both sides had to switch round several times per half!

That was the season we beat Spurs in the cup, following our promotion a few months earlier - we ended up staying up with one of those games where we had to avoid defeat in our last game to send our opponents (this time Carlisle) down instead of us.

Went to this game with a number of others in the back of a transit van. Two of our party had a "major disagreement" pulling into Plymouth causing the back doors to fly open and the rest of us stopping them tumbling out whilst they were still swinging at each other. Later on we were all arrested in Exeter on suspicion of trashing a pub then released when the real culprits, another City transit, were apprehended and identified. Can remember all this but little of the game so thanks to the OP for filling in the blanks!
