    And your point is?

Point of order, I have just researched Sir Mo, and can see that his father was born in London, so yes, Mo is more English than Ashley Williams is Welsh.

I'm not sure anybody has suggested that. I suspect he feels similar about representing GB as Earnie did about representing Wales.

You might think that. You'd be completely wrong, but hey, what's new about that?

I have similar thoughts about Bradley the Belgian

You are questioning Mo being British, that is racism

    He wasn't born in Britain.

    Neither were:

    Justin Rose
    Bradley Wiggins
    Chris Froome
    Greg Rudeski
    Jo Konta
    Aljaze Bedene.

It's not being racist to factually state a persons country of birth.

The question is - if you make Britain your home from any early age can you never really be British?

    no, it really is not.

My original comment was "British is stretching it a bit". This is because he wasn't born in Britain. That is a fact.

He is a fantastic athlete, and he is entitled to have a British passport and live in Britain (not that he does).

I am merely, in an admittedly clumsy way, pointing out that he, like a number of other foreign born sportspeople seem to be eagerly claimed as British by a public and media, so desperate for some form of vicarious glory.

Now I know you like nothing more than pointless arguments Tandy, so I'll leave you with this thought before I go to bed.
My best British athletes would be Sir Steve Redgrave or Chris Hoy

I was born in Newport, moved to Cardiff when I was six. I'm not "proper Cardiff"

    You got me.

I went to School in Cardiff, my wife is from Cardiff, my son was born in Cardiff, all of my friends are from Cardiff, my football team is Cardiff, I've lived here for 47 years, If I'd been good enough I guess I'd qualify to represent Cardiff at a sport, I call Cardiff home, I love the place, but at the end of the day, my passport says I was born in Newport.

If somebody on holiday asked where you were from and you said Cardiff I don't think you'd be stretching it a bit tbh.

    Newport eh?

    That'll explain the racism then.

    Racism in its purest form.

Phone the police and report him.

Or text 'hate crime' to 999.
