I was in Texas the night MH370 went missing and was sitting next to, two colleagues from the Malaysian office as the news came on the telly, we were having a meal in a town called Weatherford, it one of those, I'll always remember what I was doing and where I was moments, I was staying (with Doris) in a one horse town called Mineral Wells, bit of a back to the west town, the local Bar Woody's was frequented by pretend cowboys still wearing spurs I thought Texans were O.K without being overly friendly.

    Wise words.
    I shall never underestimate Texas.

More seriously, thoughts with those caught up in this catastrophe right now, and those who have lost everything.

10 years, 10 aircraft carriers, it doesn't really matter, it's the essence that shines brightly

It can happen to anybody. The mark of a true man is to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again.

I have just done some detailed internet research and now know that Yankee probably derives from the Dutch name Janke - when New York was still the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam - which translates as 'Little John'. So more East Midlands (Nottingham and Sherwood Forest) than North East!
