    The Marty McFly dilemma

Why Didn't Geroge mcFly ever say to his wife "how come our son looks exactly like the boy we met 30 years ago?"

Because he wasn't there. He went back in time and influenced events. When he came back, he didn't exist in the past.

Einstein covered this in his 1926 essay 'Time, relativity and I haven't a fecking clue.'

But the Doc remembered him being there.

Because he went back. George didn't travel anywhere.

Its a little like dreaming, you're there but no one else sees you, once you wake of course. Which happens daily. You alter the past because your dream influences the following day. Which is called 'total suggestibility.' Google it, its quite revealing, and says a lot about time travel.

How many people's faces can you really remember from 30 years ago without looking at photos or yearbooks etc? Particularly one guy that showed up for what a few days.

Even so, surely seeing Marty grow up would have blurred their memories anyway, he hasn't just rocked up one day.

And even after all that, if they did recognise him would his mother really want to go there.

What bothers me more is Jennifer's Dr Who style morphing.

You're troubled by George? Lorraine had the hots for him? I can't remember casual acquaintances with lads I met 30 years ago, yet strangely I do remember the girls. Maybe Joe Jackson was right

They'd probably have some recollection of Marty seeing as he set them up

I thought the dilemma was going to be whether to give his mum one.

Anybody think the car travelling through time is a bit unlikely too?

Less unlikely than a police box.

Why would anyone think their 17 year-old son look like some kid they barely knew for one week 30 years ago?

This ^ Surely they would think of him every time they saw a pair of Calvin Klein boxer shorts?

But the tardis can look like anything. It is one of the things that just stuck from the first series, when it looked like a police-box when it landed on earth because in that time frame it fitted in with everything else and was invisible in open view as they say.
I can only assume that the intention was to change it depending on where the stories took it, but the box stuck so well in the viewers imagination it actually became a symbol of the whole doctor Who genre.
Well that's what the Daleks think anyway!!

"Since the turn of the century much research has explored the concept of interrogative suggestibility, with recent research highlighting a sizeable link between the reported experience of negative life events (NLEs) and performance on the Gudjonsson Suggestibility Scale 1 (GSS1). The present study sought to reinvestigate the previously found novel relationship, as well as explore the role of field dependence as a possible coping mechanism implemented during interview by such vulnerable interviewees. As expected, highly significant correlations between NLEs and the suggestibility components of the GSS emerged. Field dependence, however, failed to correlate significantly with either NLE or GSS scores. Nonetheless, some additional findings relating to age, NLEs, and shift scores on the GSS were noted, which may help further our understanding of the NLE to interrogative suggestibility relationship. A new group of vulnerable interviewees, who are as yet unrecognized by the police or courts, has also been identified."

    If you say so.
